I swim in cans of peaches :)

I love to read. However, that doesn't always mean that I love what I read. Sometimes there are just those books that you can't get interested in for the life of you. They start out boring, continue boring, and if your lucky get somewhat interesting at the end. When I'm faced with a book like this I usually just continue through and read the whole thing. I don't usually read boring books for pleasure as so many of my classmates recommended to do during the book talks. This means that when confronted with a boring book it is usually an assignment and you have no choice but to read it.

When I can't read in a comfortable reading environment I usually just try harder. I live with two rambunctious siblings, in a small house. When I'm not home I'm either at school, which is always noisy, or with the rest of the football team, and not really able to read. If you concentrate on the book I'm sure that after awhile you'll get used to reading in a noisy place and tuning out the unwanted noise. And then what do you know, you have a new skill to use throughout life.

I enjoy reading historical fiction. It is one of my favorite genres and something I never grow tired of reading. I lik to read historical fiction because it not only teaches you about past events, places, and people but makes it a little more interesting and involving than your everday history textbook. Reading historical fiction you can feel like your actually there crossing mountains with Hannibal or at the battle of Gettysburg with Gen. Jackson. I like that.

We read fiction because it provides an escape from the monotamy of everyday life. Reading about what is real is no different from living it and sometimes that just isn't satisfying enough. We read fiction because it is more gripping than non-fiction. I can't remember the last time I was on the edge of my seat reading non-fiction whereas you get involved in many pieces of fiction.

Thank you for reading my blog.
